FAQ

What does the process look like if I want to work with you?

  • I’ll reply with availability, rates, etc.

  • Upload your files or send me a link to download

  • We’ll talk in detail about your vision and what you’re looking for with the mix(es)

  • Begin the mixing process. Generally, mixes are turned around in less than a week depending on my current workload

  • Revise the mix until you’re happy

  • Print all final versions for mastering

Do You Take On Every Project?

No. I’m a firm believer on finding the right people for the right job. I hope I’m the perfect fit for your project, but that’s not always the case. If, for whatever reason, I feel like I can’t meet your expectations, I will happily refer you to someone I feel is better suited to your project.

How would you describe your style or sound as a mixer?

I honestly love mixing all kinds of genres! That being said, I do have an extra soft spot for pop music and it’s my favorite to mix. My ear tends to lean towards a clean, punchy, dynamic, and larger than life sound. I’m always striving to make my mixes competitive with the top pop songs out there.

Do you mix in the box?

Mostly yes, but I honestly consider my setup more hybrid. I work primarily in Pro Tools and mix with a combo of boutique outboard gear and a Rupert Neve Designs 5059 Satellite summing mixer. Whatever will yield the best sound and work for the song is what ends up being used.

I don’t think I can afford you.

Not true! I really dig good music so feel free to reach out. Let’s chat!

Do you offer ways to work remotely?

Of course, that’s what I love about our current world of technology! I utilize Audiomovers to stream the mix in realtime to you and Zoom for our communication/screen sharing.

What’s the best way to export my files?

Please export all files from 00:00:00 with the inserts on. You can also include any FX returns separately as well. Please also include a dry/raw (no plugins) Lead vocal.

Once all files have been exported and properly labeled, move them to a folder, label the folder with the song title and BPM, and zip that folder. That zip file is what you will transfer to me.

This blog from Universal Audio is also a great resource for mix prep I like to point everyone to.

What version do I receive once the mix is completed?

  • Main Mix

  • TV (no lead vocal)

  • Instrumental

  • Acapella

*Stem mixes can be requested for an additional fee.

Will you master my record?

I prefer not to master and will happily recommend a top tier mastering engineer. I will provide you with a master reference. Most of my delivered mixes are at a competitive level. I use a limiter and get it loud enough so you can see what it’ll be like. Here’s the thing: ISRC, Text Encoding, PMCD creation are things I’m not passionate about. However, these things are important, especially if manufacturing physical copies. So, let’s make sure you find the mastering engineer who is right for you.
